On the mitigation of impulse noise using a MC-CDMA iterative solution for Broadband over Powerline Communications

چکیده
Power Line Communication (PLC) is predicted as a prospective solution for indoor and outdoor communications over power supplies. Broadband over Power Lines (BPL) uses a large bandwidth to provide high-speed Internet services to the end user. However, the channel exhibits high frequency selectivity and impulse noise, requesting modern signal processing methods. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) modulation and spreading techniques are known to mitigate these negative properties when combined with iterative receivers. This paper gives the full characterization of a Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) transceiver associating high-order modulations, OFDM, spreading, interleaving and channel decoding with an iterative process. Then, the simulation results will focus on the impulse noise palliation by means of symbol interleaving between spreading and OFDM modulation.

Iterative Multiuser Detection for DS-CDMA/MC-CDMA Powerline Communications
The increasing ubiquity of the Internet is creating a rapidly growing demand for larger bandwidth to the home. Currently the narrowband twisted-pair access network from an optical network unit (ONU) or a central office (CO) to a customer’s premises, the socalled “last dirty mile”, is the bottleneck for Internet traffic. The increasing demand for a home/office network further necessitates a flex...
متن کاملAdvanced Signal Processing for Powerline Communications
In this paper, signal processing techniques to combat the adverse communications environment on power lines are addressed, so as to enable reliable high speed data communications over lowvoltage (LV) power distribution networks for Internet access and in-home/office networking. It is seen that multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA), multiuser detection (MUD), and turbo decoding, h...

The throughput enhancement of Space-Time Spreading (STS)-based Multicarrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system is investigated in this paper. Variable Spreading Factor (VSF) is utilized to improve the data throughput of the system. In this paper, a comparative study between a blind algorithm, based on higher order cumulants, and adaptive algorithms, i.e. Recursive Least Squares (RLS) and Least Mean Squares (LMS) for MultiCarrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) systems equalization is presented. Two practical frequency-selective fading channels, called Broadband Radio Access Network (BRAN A, BRAN B) normalized for ...

In this paper we propose an algorithm based on higher order cumulants, for blind impulse response identification of frequency radio channels and downlink (MC−CDMA) system Equalization. In order to test its efficiency, we have compared with another algorithm proposed in the literature, for that we considered on theoretical channel as the Proakis’s ‘B’ channel and practical frequency selective fa...
